The Duffys are a busy and fun family who were ready to extend and layout their home to meet their evolving lifestyle.

We were involved from an early conceptual stage on this build and helped to shape and plan the renovation, which was really enjoyable. They wanted to create a spacious living area that would be fun and adaptable for entertaining their friends and family.

 We worked closely with Ben and Helen and a draughtsman to design an imaginative extension and renovation that was achievable within their budget. We completely transformed their living area by pushing out a wall, adding some floor space, and raising the ceiling.

Something the clients dreamt up was a comfy window seat built into the large new picture window, and Ayumu took this on as a special project. This otherwise dead space was brought alive with under-seat storage and built-in bookshelves and became the perfect spot to soak up the sun. The result is stunning.

We cut and pitched LVL rafters for a hip roof joining into the existing roofline. Cutting and pitching a roof is something Ayumu truly enjoys. We also renovated the existing bathroom as well as a laundry and lavatory, and created a great kids’ study area with all the extra space we opened up.

 The project was finished off with a good ol’ Kwila deck that wraps around the new extension to take full advantage of the newly installed bi-fold doors and the glorious afternoon sun. This house is made for indoor/outdoor entertaining!
